Our school
Ntra. Sra. de la Esperanza State School in located in Calasparra, Spain. Calasparra is a small town of about 10,000 people in the South East of Spain, in the Región de Murcia, with the rice and fruit trees as the main product and way of living in the area. Our school’s got about 250 students and 23 teachers in the staff. We have a long experience in the teaching of languages, both French and English. Our students aged 6-10 (1st to 3rd level) are following a bilingual programme, so in three more years all our Primary students will be studying Science in English. In levels 5th and 6th (ages 11-13) our students also study French.
Apart from languages, we’ve put much of our effort in education for health and consumption and we’ve been developing serveral long term projects for a long time in those areas, that’s why we’ve chosen them as the main topic for our project. We’d like to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the Comenius Programme to share our experiences in those areas and to get new “fresh” ideas not only from other schools, but also from other cultures. We’ve been engaged in the Portfolio Programme for several years and the Comenius is an excellent opportunity to make our students feel Europe in a much more real way.
